Frequently Asked Questions

Does this release automatically allow paid advertising?
No. Section 1.4 has a separate paid-advertising choice. Without permission, paid ads using the participant's identity or recording are not authorized.
Can the participant require approval before use?
Yes. Section 1.5 can require written approval before first publication. Silence is not approval.
Does the release cover every future project?
No. The permission is limited to the project, uses, territory, and term entered. It also excludes unrelated endorsements, standalone sale of identity, and AI training or synthetic replicas.
What are common warning signs in a photo, video & audio release?

These are common issues to watch for in any photo, video & audio release:

  • The use description is broader than the project discussed
  • Paid ads are assumed without selecting permission
  • Approval rights lack a workable review process
  • A release is treated as permission for unrelated material
