About this contract

This agreement is for solo musicians and purchasers booking a live musical performance. Hiring a solo musician is distinct from hiring the musician for a recording session.

Key points covered in this contract

  • Musical performance: instrument, repertoire, set lengths, breaks, and amplification.
  • Payment and cancellation: the booking fee, payment dates, and what happens if the event moves or is cancelled.
  • Permissions and termination: the permissions included and how the engagement can end.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if the event is cancelled or moved to another date?
Moving an event does not automatically move the performer's booking. The performer may be unavailable, and cancellation terms may still apply to the original date. Payments can depend on notice, work already done, committed expenses, and any valid cancellation fee.
Can guests ask the musician to play longer than the booked set?
They can ask, but their request does not automatically authorize an extra charge to the organizer. Extra time may need the organizer's approval and may be limited by venue hours or another commitment. A performance agreement can name who is allowed to approve an extension.
